Winter Sports - Snowmobiling-Skiing

Savoy hosts a very popular snowmobile trailhead accessing the 300-hundred mile Black Hill's trail system. It spans from Spearfish to Custer, Wyoming to the eastern edge of the Black Hills. The trail system is rated the 2nd most outstanding snowmobile trail system in the Nation. Sled and cross-country ski rentals are available at the Spearfish Canyon Lodge at Savoy, Lead/Deadwood, and Spearfish outlets.

Cross-Country Skiing and downhill skiing are also popular winter activities near the canyon area. Big Hill and Eagle cross-country ski trails can be found west of the canyon walls, and along Highway 85 between Cheyenne Crossing and O'Neil Pass. Downhill skiing is located 8-miles west of the canyon at Terry Peak and Deer Mountain.
