Foundation
Projects
The Foundation
has accomplished varied projects and has visualized future projects that
are important to the ecology and recreation of the canyon scene. The U.S.D.A.
Forest Service is the main federal agency that manages the canyon contour.
Other agencies involved include South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks Department,
South Dakota Department of Transportation, South Dakota Forestry - Department
of Agriculture, U.S. Fish & Wildlife Department, U.S. Bureau of Land
Management, and U.S. Federal Highways Department. For
information on collaborative projects with universities - click here for
South Dakota School of Mines & Technology
Every project requires a vision, substantial planning, public
scoping, and fund raising. Many public and private organizations are involved.
Significant time is invested to achieve a well-coordinated and meaningful
result. Project costs vary from $65,000 to $280,000 with the exception
of the land conservancy project that exceeds $1.8 million. Listed below
are a few of the Foundation's accomplishments and visions (italicized
in tan). More detailed information is available by contacting the Foundation.
