 Fly-fishing
is very popular along the rushing waters of Spearfish Creek. Fish species
include rainbow, brook, and brown trout. A few sites, as posted, are restricted
to Catch and Release. Fishing licenses are available at the Spearfish
Canyon Lodge at Savoy, and the Cheyenne Crossing Store. Fisherman are
requested to protect the natural conditions along the creek bank including
fallen timber, natural shrubs and grasses, and beaver activity. Good luck
asking the locals where the best fishing-holes are located ... you are
on your own to explore the answer. They do say that both dry and wet flies
are effective.
